Sambousek

This is the fifth dish of my 7 days of mayonnaise series where I explore creative and exciting versions of my favorite condiment. I made sambousek, a delicious fried meat pie–it’s the middle eastern cousin to the Indian samosa and Mexican empanada! I paired it with a saffron-sumac mayo which turned out to be a perfect dipping sauce. This was a truly unique condiment that I still think about, the saffron flavor really shined through and paired beautifully with the sumac and lemon.

  1. Totally authentic Middle Eastern, dude! Nice- love how these flavors come together- a splash of tamarind would be killer in the mayo or the meat pies
